Country stands out in the world after 252 days using renewable energy

Costa Rica was described as a “paradise of renewable energy” by various international media, who highlighted the 252 days when the country was supplied only with renewable energy.

On Monday, the RT chain said that the Costa Rican Electricity Institute managed to produce 74% of electricity in hydroelectric plants, 13% in geothermal plants and 10% in wind farms.

Given this, the country produced less than 2% of its electricity from fossil fuels, earning global admiration. However, this is not the first time that the country stands out for this reason: in September 2015, the British media published the achievements of the ICE in this subject.

Also in 2015, the country saw the end of the year with 99% of renewable energy.
