Court dismissed a lawsuit against parole benefit to inmates

An administrative court has dismissed a lawsuit that sought to suspend an order by the Ministry of Justice that allows inmates to serve prison sentences on parole, as a way to reduce overcrowding in prisons.

The court noted that this issue must be reviewed only by the courts that ordered the prison sentences.

The Ministry of Justice order allows parole benefit to prisoners with sentences up to 7 years, as a way to reduce their prison term.

The lawsuit had also sought prisoners released on parole to be recaptured, alleging this decision was taken without a technical study.

The plaintiff was an association of ex-policemen who disagree with the guideline of the Ministry of Justice.
