Court supports reform against terrorism

On July, 06th, the Supreme Court endorsed the legal reform that seeks to criminalize the financing of terrorism.

The information was confirmed by legislator Marco Vinicio Redondo, from the party Acción Ciudadana (PAC), who said he was satisfied by the decision.

Redondo also said that the reform of the Narcotics Law could be approved on Thursday in the first reading, to prevent Costa Rica from being included in the black list of countries that do not cooperate with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in the fight against terrorism.

On the July, 16th this international body must determine if Costa Rica meets its requirements, including reforms to criminalize terrorist financing.

The legislator affirmed the Court sees no problems for the project, which is part of a set of 10 bills dispensed from formalities, under a tax agreement.
