Crocodile causes fear in Piuta beach in Limón

Neighbors from Limón reported having seen a crocodile crawling and swimming in Piuta beach on Sunday afternoon. The authorities are conducting search efforts to locate the animal.

Rafael Angel Araya, director of the security forces in the province, said the neighbors sent them a picture of the animal, but they have not seen it.

Once they locate the alligator, they will coordinate with experts to return it to its habitat. However, they ask people for extreme caution, because this is a beach visited by families with children.

It is not the first time that the presence of alligators and crocodiles is reported in Costa Rican beaches, because in places like Tamarindo is very common to find these animals. There have even been tragedies with tourists.
