Cubillo: “curfews won’t take place in Limón”

Due to Limón’s recent events, where 6 people have died, several WhatsApp recordings are circulating and they are informing that curfews will take place. However, authorities rejected this measure.

Marlon Cubillo, director of the security forces in the province, said that Costa Rica is a democratic country and it is not true that such a provision will be applied.

In the recordings, a woman assures that curfews will take place because “things are very ugly.”

In addition, Cubillo informed that there are people saying that more citizens will die, but he stated that it is not true, there is not a way to investigate that and these people just want to scare the population.

Walter Espinoza, director of the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ), declared at a news conference that the issue in the Caribbean province is quite complex and they are conducting an operation to find the responsible ones for the shootings that took place on Sunday and Monday.
