Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo accused of student massacre

The executive secretary of the Nicaraguan Association for Human Rights (ANPDH), Álvaro Leiva Sánchez, filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday morning due to the death of protesters in recent days by the hands of regular and paramilitary forces of the Government.

The accusation is against the president and vice-president appointed by the Supreme Electoral Council, Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, and against the de facto head of the National Police, first commissioner Aminta Granera, the deputy director of that institution, Commissioner Francisco Díaz, and chiefs of police delegations in Managua and in various parts of the country.

According to the press in Nicaragua, the human rights defender also demanded that the National Assembly request the suspension of diplomatic immunity for Ortega, Murillo, and Granera.

Leiva Sánchez indicated that the complaint is presented by what he described as mass executions perpetrated in the country. And although he presented a list of 32 victims, he said that later they will add more dead in case the number keeps rising.

The chief said that the purpose of the complaint is to seek justice for the bloodshed of innocent youth and citizens.
