Dengue cases continue to increase

In a little less than three weeks, dengue cases in the country increased by 1,800.

As of October 19th, the Ministry of Health and the Costa Rican Institute for Research and Teaching in Nutrition and Health (Incense) reported 7,169 cases of dengue, while at the beginning of that month the figure was 5,338.

Only ten of the patients were in serious condition and fortunately no deaths from that virus had been reported during 2019.

During the same period of the previous year, only 2,735 dengue diagnoses were registered, which reflects an increase of 4,434 cases today.

Health authorities insist on not lowering their guard to prevent infection and breeding of the mosquito.
