Dengue cases doubled in the country

Ticos let their guard down on the elimination of breeding grounds of the dengue-transmitting mosquito, so the cases doubled this year.

According to the Ministry of Health, for August of last year 1,646 cases were reported and for this period the figure is 3,960 people affected, of which three were serious cases.

The most affected cantons are Sapariquí, Guácimo, Pococí and Turrialba.

This Thursday, ministry officials will travel to Sarapiquí to conduct an inspection in the area.

Some of the recommendations to prevent the spread of the virus are:

– Eliminating breeding sites (containers that accumulate water)

– Fill any gap that can store liquid with soil.

– Change the water of flower vases at least once a week.
