Donate blood in Acosta and El Guarco

The Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) announced that it will hold blood donation days in Tejar del Guarco, in Cartago, and Acosta in San José with the objective of supplying the hospitals with different components necessary to save lives and improve the condition of patients who need transfusions.

In El Guarco it will take place on Sunday, August 19th from 8:00 a.m. until noon in the parish hall of the Immaculate Conception Basilica. In Acosta, it will be on September 2nd, at the same time, at the facilities of the Red Cross of San Ignacio.

Each person willing to donate blood must have at least 40 free minutes to complete the process.

Remember that if you are going to donate blood you must meet the following requirements:
1. Present an identity card in good conditions
2. The donation must be voluntary, without receiving any type of payment in exchange
3. Voluntaries must be 18 to 65 years old
4. With a weight higher than 50 kilograms
5. You can have breakfast before, however, you are requested not to consume fats
6. Drink lots of water one or two days before donating. On the day of donation try to drink about two glasses of water half an hour before the process
7. Not having had a cold in the last 15 days
8. Remind the doctor of the medications you are taking and the illnesses you are suffering from
9. It should be a year after the last tattoo or piercing
10. Inform if you are on your period
11. Pregnant women cannot donate six months after delivery
