Dozens of people are victims of alleged scams with real estate projects

Dozens of people are victims of alleged scams with real estate projects that are carried out.

This week the Public Prosecutor’s Office released the case of at least 6 people who filed a complaint against a company that offered them luxury condominiums and that, despite the payment, never happened.

In fact, the Ministry of Industry Economy and Commerce (MEIC) warned that 15% of the projects that were exhibited at ExpoConstruction and Housing 2017 did not meet the requirements requested by the entity.

doctor Erick Arias is a victim of a failed project that stopped being a dream and ended up being a nightmare:

Two years ago, my wife and I decided to buy a house in a condominium located in Cartago. The person in charge was a well-known entrepreneur in the area and he was also my client. It all started well. We saw the terrain and we liked it. The project was in a stage of land movements and we signed a contract. However, the construction of the house was delayed for months. It never started.

The doctor tells that the person in charge declared himself not self-sufficient and 12 families were ended up with a big problem. They made a series of payments and never got the house. They are even in the middle of a legal process because the developer simply disappeared. He owns Arias $ 11,000 and there are families that paid up to $ 20,000.
