A social experiment was enough to show the indifference of the people in cases of abuse against senior citizens.
With videos, a campaign of the Ombudsman’s Office seeks to raise awareness about the responsibility of the entire society regarding this problem, which is on the rise.
“Indifference is also violence” is the name of this initiative that consists of videos that show situations of aggression in public places, where most people do not intervene.
On the eve of the Christmas and end of the year festivities, the Ombudsman’s Office is committed to education and a change the attitude of all people in order to eradicate discrimination and violence.
This year there are already about four thousand alerts to the emergency service for abuse and neglect of senior citizens. In the last two years, about 700 elderly people were abandoned.
