Firefighters: country recorded more than a thousand fires in 2016

The Fire Department handled a total of 1064 structural fires over the past 12 months. This is indicated by the statistics of the entity that took care a total of 64 thousand emergencies in 2016.

The results reflect an increase in the number of fires, compared to 2015. As for emergencies, firefighters reported an increase of 13% in accidents.

Bee swarms were one of the reasons that kept firefighters busy, since they caused more than 16 thousand emergencies. Moreover, there were more than 11,800 fire alerts and 4,000 short circuit alerts. In addition, more than 4,000 animals were rescued.

Of the 1064 fires, the Fire Department recorded more than a thousand people affected and 18 fatal victims.
