Former comptroller will be the new superintendent of financial entities

The National Council of Supervision of the Financial System (CONASSIF), unanimously appointed the lawyer and administrator Rocío Aguilar Montoya as General Superintendent of Financial Institutions, for a period of five years, starting on March 1st, 2018.

Aguilar was Comptroller General of the Republic from 2005 to 2012. Prior to that, she was Technical Secretary of the National Council of Concessions from 2002 to 2005. In addition, she was a pioneer in Costa Rican private banking, standing out in various important positions in her nearly 20 years of career in that sector.

From 1981 to 2001 she held various positions in the Banex Corporation, and participated in the Credit Committees, the Treasury, and the management functions in the Bank, as well as in the Stock Exchange of the same group.

She currently works in the area of Financial Services and Infrastructure of the company Deloitte Consulting.

She has also been director of the board of directors and member of committees of financial entities, as well as director of the Fundes Foundation, director and president of the Costa Rican Development Association, member of the Conassif, vice president of the Costa Rican Banking Association, and associate and director of the Board of Directors of the Central American Academy.

Aguilar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Costa Rica and a Law Degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho. She also participated in the Senior Management Program taught by the Central American Institute of Business Administration (Incae).
