Former president Laura Chinchilla Miranda scolded Channel 6 journalist, Hernán Barrantes, after he a controversial caption on a selfie.
Barrantes was working in Corozalito de Nandayure, on the site of a plane crash where 12 people died. He took a selfie and posted it on Twitter.

said the publication. However, the post was not well received by a large number of people who criticized him for the publication.
Former president Laura Chinchilla replied
For the victims and their families, the greatest blessing would have been to receive the New Year, even if you were left without a selfie and without the news.”
Barrantes decided to delete the publication and told Chinchilla it was never his intention to hurt anyone and said she was respectful of the pain caused by the tragedy. He also extended his condolences to Chinchilla, as the pilot of the plane was her cousin.
