Former president Rodríguez: “the CCSS goal is nonsense”

Former president Miguel Ángel Rodríguez rejected the CCSS intention of transferring resources from the complementary pensions to the Disability, Old Age and Death Pension Fund (IVM).

Rodríguez, who enacted the Worker’s Protection Law during his government, thinks the initiative is nonsense and an attempt to steal from workers.

According to him, the Comandatory Fund for Complementary Pensions was founded through private measures and workers’ individual accounts. As consequence, those resources should be protected by the authorities.

The former president also critisized the 1% point increase to workers’ contributions to the IVM. He stated that it is just a short, temporary solution.
