Four men arrested for hunting and butchering iguanas

The National Coast Guard prevented four people from hunting and killing iguanas in Matina, Limón, specifically in the Biological Reserve of Mondonguillo.

The authorities intercepted a boat with two adults named Varela and Reyes, and two minors, who carried two butchered iguanas and two living ones, with their legs tied.

The suspects were referred to the Attorney General’s Office in Limón to be prosecuted for the alleged violation of the Wildlife Conservation Act.

At this time of the year, turtles and iguanas come to spawn in this biological reserve, hence the constant patrols, to catch poachers.

The two living iguanas were released.
