The recent and unbearable traffic jams and the absence of solutions by the authorities have made people look for alternatives to reduce the problem.

This is the case of San Miguel Arcángel parking in Paseo Colón, San José, located on streets 32 and 34, Avenue 42 (200 meters south of KFC).

With “Bike to work” they aim to change society by keeping an eye on bikes for free, every day, all day. Erick Rojas, parking administrator, said the initiative began this week and the idea is to promote the use of alternative transportation and exercise.

This week they plan to include locker and shower service, so that people can change and go to work. They have security cameras and staff 100% dedicated to the surveillance of cars, and now bicycles.

“We are not interested in profiting from this. What we want is to have an impact on society, to get rid of traffic jams and for people to feel more comfortable,” said Rojas.

For now they only have space for 6 bicycles, but they hope to expand capacity in coming weeks.
