Funds and no roadwoks for Route 32

February 2016 marked one year since the Legislature approved the loan with the Bank of Exports and Imports of China (Eximbank) to extend route 32. But the roadworks have not started and the funds have not been allocated.

This impasse could become a new obstacle for the government, since the loan agreement between the Treasury and Eximbank stipulates that conditions and even the contract could change and be cancelled if the funds are not used in a year.

José Francisco Pacheco, deputy minister of Expenses, said that designs and execution of the work would begin in a short period, because the contract with the company CHEC already has the endorsement of the Comptroller.

However, Pacheco did not give more details and the financing will only start running with the environmental permit and the revaluation of the project. Both processes are still unfinished.
