Gold miners claim to have found gold nuggets worth more than ¢1 million in Crucitas

In the last couple of months a lot of people have reached the area of Crucitas in Cutris de San Carlos with the intention of extracting gold.

In this place, where there are more than 2,500 illegal gold miners, gold nuggets are starting to show up. This was assured by a source from the area, who mentioned that this is a very particular situation.

So far the gold found has been found in very small particles, which the miners have to put in contact with mercury to form the so-called “gold nugget”, after a long process.

However, the source who spoke to the media said that one person told him that

these gold nuggets were found on a recent trip with some of the southern miners. And after two hours of working in a sector, which had already been excavated by illegal gold miners -near a ravine-, they implemented the illegal method (did not reveal what it was) and managed to extract four pebbles whose weight ranged from 21.8 to 24 grams.

That same person told the source that nuggets were distributed among them and he got the one with 21grams and a value of 350 thousand colones. He said that in just 2 hours they found about 90 grams worth about 1,200,000 colones.

This is why they will return to the place to extract more gold, despite the fact that this is an illegal activity.
