Approximately 1,000 inmates from prisons located in the Caribbean and the Northern Zone would be evacuated due to the possibility of the arrival of Hurricane Otto in Costa Rica.
At first, it was considered to evacuate just Limón’s prisons, however, after the red alert declaration in places like San Carlos, Guatuso, Sarapiquí, Los Chiles and others, the reclusion centers in those areas could be included.
President Luis Guillermo Solís also indicated that they are contemplating the evacuation of the hospitals in the area.
