Grand parade in celebration of Afro-Costa Rican culture

As every August 31st, the streets of Limón were filled with color, flavor, joy and tradition with the Grand Parade through the main streets of the center of the province to celebrate Black and Afro-Costa Rican culture.
With its traditional colorful costumes, exotic hairstyles, floats, music and dance, the celebration was enjoyed by dozens of people who watched the parade.

Children, young people and adults showed their heritage with pride.

President Luis Guillermo Solís, vice president Ana Helena Chacón, the First Lady, Mercedes Peñas and other government authorities participated in the activity.

The limonense party began early, when they received the plans for the new Black Star Line, iconic building of this province that burned in April last year.

According to the Commission in charge of the work, the objective is to start the construction on August 31st next year, once the money has been collected. The investment would be around $ 3 million.
