Grecia the toucan celebrates a year of recovery

Yesterday, Grecia the toucan celebrated a year of recovery at the Zoo Ave animal rescue center in Alajuela.

The bird, which lost part of its peak during an attack in 2015, was part of the launch of the program “Padrinos del Zoológico”, for companies and individuals to financially support the care and feeding of a particular species.

The Bank of Costa Rica will henceforth be the godfather of Grecia and deposit a monthly sum for her care, medicines and food.

We want people who are interested in caring for these beautiful birds to support with their donations to Grecia and all the toucans of this refuge (19). Therefore, we have enabled more than 2,000 toucan points throughout the country to receive donations from one thousand colones. This month we will raffle four family packages to come and visit this beautiful place. To participate you have to make a donation from a Toucan point”

said Rafael Quirós, manager of the Tucan brand.

The launch of the sponsors program joins the commemoration of a year since Grecia recovered, being the first bird in Latin America to receive a peak prosthesis. The complexity of the intervention and the novelty to be the first in the region achieved international media coverage.

The sponsor program is open to support specific species, projects and release centers. Those interested in being sponsors can contact the telephones 2433-8989, 8950-6161 and email comunicacion@rescateanimalzooave.org

The account of the BCR to donate to Grecia the toucan is 205-0015607-8 and to donate from other entities is 15201205001560784.
