Guevara: “consultation on the law against tax fraud is ready”

Legislator Otto Guevara informed that the consultation on the law against tax fraud, to be sent to the Constitutional Court, is ready.

So far, Guevara obtained 18 signatures to present the document on Friday, however, he stated that he could collect more.

The consultation has the signatures of Guevara, Natalia Díaz and José Alberto Alfaro, from Movimiento Libertario, Antonio Álvarez, Juan Luis Jiménez Succar, Michael Arce, Aracelly Segura, Maureen Clarke, Lorelly Trejos, Olivier Jiménez, Ronny Monge and Danny Hayling, from Partido de Liberación Nacional, Gerardo Vargas Rojas, Johnny Leiva, Luis Vásquez and Jorge Rodríguez, from Partido Unión Social Cristiana, Franklin Corella, from Partido Acción Ciudadana, and Fabricio Alvarado, from Restauración Nacional.

Guevara explained that the consultation includes 13 complaints, but one of the most important has to do with inaccuracies in the drafting of the creation of the shareholders and corporation beneficiaries’ centralized record.

It also establishes that the power of the Costa Rican Drug Institute (ICD) to access the database violates Article 24 of the Constitution, which establishes the right to privacy and intimacy.

The law against tax fraud was passed in its first reading on September 8th.
