Health organizations in Venezuela say they no longer have immunity

In the middle of the crisis in Venezuela and the demonstrations that oppose President Nicolás Maduro’s mandate, many organizations dedicated to health denounce that they are no longer immune and are at risk.

The clashes between the Government and the opposition have already left 36 people dead and hundreds injured, hence the importance of this type of organizations.

hours ago we had a very important accident when a police contingent assaulted our vehicle, which is super well identified, but they attacked two of our members, one of the doctors was dragged by the streets,”

said Federica Dávila, Director of First Aid at the Central University of Venezuela.

Dávila added that at this stage of the Venezuelan crisis, health agencies do not have immunity and that Venezuelan authorities are attacking them directly, as evidenced in an image that was recently published.

The protests in Venezuela remain. The opposition demands the government to respect the Political Constitution and to hold elections immediately.
