Heredia Hospital’s outpatient surgeries increase

From August there will be an increase in the evening and outpatient surgeries in the San Vicente de Paúl de Heredia hospital.

According to Dr. Mario Ruiz, deputy director of the medical center, this will be achieved by enabling 8 of the 10 operating rooms the medical center has to work until 10:00 pm and also on the weekends.

In those 8 operating rooms 7,389 surgeries will be carried out, including procedures for vesicular- biliary pathology, inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia lipomas, female and male sterilization, venous insufficiency, cataracts and pterygium, and tonsils and septum surgery.

According to Ruiz, using a similar strategy from May 2015 to May 2016 that hospital performed 1,016 surgeries to patients with orthopedic problems and general surgery.
