Heredia’s “crash corner” needs a traffic light

Mario Arias, head of Heredia’s Municipal Police explained that in the corner between Tercera Avenida and Calle 0, near the Red Cross, 4 to 5 vehicles collisions occur every month. For this reason, Arias is certain that a traffic light should put and end to this matter.

Despite the recent speed reducers and re-demarcation of the street, the accidents did not stop.

According to the official, the negligence of the drivers is the main reason for the accidents such as the use of cell phones while driving and the oversight of the stop sign.

As this is a national route, the municipality is coordinating the actions for the installation of traffic lights with the National Highway Council (CONAVI).

It will be the solution to the problem. It would be nice (a traffic light), although the traffic chaos is probably going to increase,”

concluded the police officer.
