High court accepts case of journalist

Last Thursday DAILY EXTRA in other media company filed a writ of amparo after denouncing the wiretapping.

The Constitutional Court has agreed to hear the case of a journalist who has accused judicial authorities of tapping his telephone to investigate an information leak. The court also issued an injunction that requires the judicial agency to continue providing public information to the journalist, and to blocks the agency from firing an agent who is suspected of leaking information.

The court is expected to rule on whether the warrantless phone tap and the targeting a journalist were legal.
