Hotels in Guanacaste and Central Pacific had higher occupancy at year-end

According to a report from the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), hotels in Puntarenas, Central Pacific and Guanacaste had occupancy rates higher than 75 percent during the holiday season. Hotels in the Caribbean and Northern Zone showed occupancy between 68 and 60 percent.

The figures are based on a survey of 140 lodging establishments, and are viewed as positive. Domestic tourism is cited as a contributing factor in year-end occupancy.
