“I learn to fend for myself” program will continue for other 5 years

The Ministry of Public Education (MEP) and the Institute on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (IAFA) signed a new 5-year agreement for the program “Aprendo a valerme por mi mismo” (AVPMM), in order to continue the educational talks in Costa Rican schools on drug use and its consequences.

The program main goal is to reduce the incidence and prevalence of drugs in schools.

According to data released by IAFA, for each colon that is invested in this program, the state will save 242 colones which then would be used in a drug addict’s treatment.
