As of October 5th, the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) will remove its offer for sending multimedia messaging (known as MMS) from mobile devices.
This type of messages send photographs or videos through the traditional system for text messages and nowadays it’s for those that don’t use mobile applications (such as WhatsApp or Telegram).
The company made the announcement to its customers through a text message, where they urged users to continue using their favorite mobile applications to share this type of material.
This service was available upon request. Those who wanted to use it had to send a text message to a service number, then received the steps to set up the devices in order to forward the content.
The cost of each message was ₡6.
Options offered by Kolbi:
-Send multimedia content from mobile to mobile.
-Transfer MMS material from mobile to email.
-From email to mobile.
According to the 2016 telecommunication sector report, prepared by the Superintendence of Telecommunications (SUTEL),
the total revenue associated with the mobile voice and messaging service (SMS and MMS) reached 347,313 million colones: 3% less than in 2015.”
