ICE restored the electric power distribution system in the Caribbean region

The Caribbean region of Costa Rica was affected by the heavy rains that took place on Wednesday. As consequence, the electric power distribution system, that benefits 35,000 users, was suspended.

However, yesterday afternoon, some 100 officials from the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) restored the service.

Gerardo Mora, from the Business Distribution and Marketing department, said that the ICE employees worked throughout the afternoon and evening to solve the problem. However, there are 2,500 people from Valle de la Estrella, Bribrí, Puerto Viejo, Limón, Manzanillo and Siquirres whose service hasn’t been restored, because in many cases wires and electric towers were broken.
