If you work on Tuesday, you get paid double

August 2nd is the Day of the Virgin of Los Ángeles and workers who labor this day must receive double payment.

This applies for all companies with monthly or biweekly payment, for weekly payment trade companies and for extra hours as well.

An employee who refuses to work that day cannot be penalized, but if they go to work, employers must add a simple salary to complete the double payment.

August 2nd is a non-binding holiday, according to Article 148 of the Labour Code. That’s why the rules are different for those who are paid weekly.

It is important to note that all workers, regardless of the activity they perform and regardless of the national, transnational or international status of the company, are entitled to enjoy the holiday.

No employee is required to work this day unless they agree to.
