Innovation and flavor: the promises of Viva el Café Festival

Next weekend, on October 22th and 23th, the National Stadium esplanade, in La Sabana, will hold the first edition of Viva el Café Festival, organized by the Chamber of Coffee Roasters, the Coffee Association and the Coffee Institute of Costa Rica (ICAFE). The organizers are especially inviting young, enthusiastic people. Coffee will be available in many, traditional ways.

Noelia Villalobos, from Café Finos Association, explained that for several years a coffee fair was organized under the name BN Our Coffee Expo, but this year the guild decided to take over the event.

It is a festival for young people, because we have lately seen how these generations are getting involved in the world of coffee. They love to investigate, they love everything that innovates, and that’s what we want,

stated Villalobos.

“The world does not survive just on coffee,”, joked Villalobos and that’s is why they will offer activities for everyone, such as concerts with the Symphonic Rock band and Los Ajenos. In addition, Araknido Cirkus will participate in this event.

The festival will start on Saturday 22th at 12pm. At 1 pm there will be a presentation with chef Daniel Vargas and at 3 pm, the Costa Rica Barista Championship 2017 will take place.

On Sunday noon, Costa Rica Tasters Championship 2017 will be celebrated. The festival will finish with a concert.
