INS warns about scammers… again!

The National Insurance Institute (INS) reported today that a group of scammers are calling from private or prepaid numbers on behalf of the INS to request confidential information from bank accounts and other personal data.

The entity is issuing an alert for its clients and intermediaries to be cautious. Many of these calls come from penitentiary centers and callers have very accurate information to sound credible and cheat people.

Some weeks ago, complaints were also received about calls and emails to intermediaries (insurance agents), who were told that because of problems with the system, they could not pay the commissions, so they were required to provide the information to proceed with the payment.

On that occasion, both the INS and the Superintendence of Insurance (SUGESE), who were receiving similar complaints, warned of the importance of being careful and never delivering any information related to bank accounts, legal documents or other confidential information.
