International Contact Group opposes military intervention in Venezuela

The International Contact Group opposed a military intervention in Venezuela to put an end to the crisis in that country.

The Group met this Monday and Tuesday in Costa Rica. President Carlos Alvarado and Federica Mogherini, Vice President of the European Commission, participated in the activity.

The activity called for representatives of 12 countries and the European Union who will propose necessary measures for the peaceful exit of the situation facing that country. The Group seeks alliances with Caricom, the Lima Group, the United Nations and the Vatican for an understanding agreement for the benefit of Venezuelans.

While the Contact Group advocates for national elections, protesters outside the Chancellery were betting on the recognition of Juan Guaidó as the nation’s president. Despite this, Alvarado stressed that this meeting will seek to facilitate routes from the international community in a peaceful manner.

This Tuesday the diplomatic representatives met in San Isidro de Coronado.
