Irazú volcano’s majesty in one video

video-Martínez

A video shows the nightfalls on Irazú volcano. What’s more, it is also possible to see the stars in the wide cloudscape and to watch how the light of dawn rises again.

The production was made by Costa Rican Alejandro Martínez, using the timelapse technique, which consists of joining a series of photos to create a video to capture the movement of the stars.

Martínez chose this place because, according to him, this is one of the sites with less light pollution, which works perfectly well for night photography and it helps to see the firmament in audiovisual production.

When spending all night and early morning in Irazú volcano, Martínez had to face his greatest challenges: the cold and the wind, as he assures that the temperature was 4 degrees Celsius. However, he felt it was 0 degrees due to the wind. In addition, the wind was affecting the camera. As a result, he constantly had to find a way to fix it.

However, the sacrifice was worth it and Martínez is satisfied with the results.

My goal is to show Costa Rica from a different point of view. I want people to say: “is this here? Is it Costa Rica?

declared the expert.

Thanks to SINAC support, his next trip will be to Cerro Chirripó to show people a different perspective of this landscape.

This is Alejandro’s complete video.
