Irregularities in Nicaraguan milk production

In a recent inspection on two dairy processing plants in Nicaragua, from the company Lala, the Costa Rican National Animal Health Service (SENASA) from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), identified several non-conformities with the production system of both inspected plants.

The inspection was requested by the Institute for Protection and Agricultural Health of the Republic of Nicaragua, since the company has shown an interest in the Costa Rican market.

Last May, SENASA made a comprehensive review of all points in the production process that are relevant to ensure the sanitary quality of the final product.

According to Alexis Sandí, director of SENASA, the non-conformities were identified in farms, storage facilities, processing plants and in the program for waste and good practices in the management of veterinary drugs.

In turn, Nicaraguan health authorities reported non-conformities with the Costa Rican company Dos Pinos, after an inspection in November 2015.
