It will be easier to get rid of the Christmas tree in these 10 cantons

For the seventh consecutive year, 10 municipalities and the private company FarmAgro join together so that, after the holidays, you can properly dispose of the Christmas tree. The initiative “Give a gift to nature” seeks that forest waste does not reach rivers, streams or vacant lots. They also want to avoid fires and related accidents.

In a statement, the company reported that the trees harvested are processed in machines known as chippers and converted into small pieces that are then used in garden decoration, landscaping or as organic fertilizer.

This year the 10 participating municipalities are:

San José
Curridabat
La Unión de Tres Ríos
Cartago
Desamparados
Vásquez de Coronado
Goicoechea
Moravia
Montes de Oca
Santo Domingo de Heredia.

These institutions will have the task of promoting a green culture in their cantons because they will be in charge of coordinating the logistics of collecting the trees in their different neighborhoods,”

reported Farmagro.

Thanks to this initiative in 2016, 3,614 cypress trees were collected.
