Juan Guaidó appoints new diplomatic representative in Costa Rica

(Claudio Sandoval), Panama (Fabiola Zacarce) and Peru (Carlos Scull).

The appointment of new diplomatic representatives was unanimously approved in ordinary session,”

reported Juan Guaidó, interim president of Venezuela, in his Twitter account.

The inauguration of Guaidó during an opposition march was followed by more anti-Maduro protests and riots that left some 40 dead and at least 850 arrested, according to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Maduro denounced that maneuver as a coup led by the United States, which imposed oil sanctions on Caracas on Monday and gave Guaidó control of Venezuela’s accounts in the United States.

Rodolfo Piza, Minister of the Presidency, said at a press conference after the Governing Council, that

the consequences of the decision to recognize Mr. Guaidó’s government in Venezuela will be applied, the procedures and changes will correspond to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the President of the Republic.”
