Key road in Santo Domingo will have regulated traffic for five months

About 1.6 kilometers between the McDonald’s restaurant and the entrance to the bridge over Virilla River, on the Santo Domingo de Heredia-Tibás road, will be the subject of a series of works that will require regulated traffic for the next five months.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) explained that they’ll place pipes to prepare the route for the public transport sectorization.

The works will begin next Tuesday, August 13th, and will run until January 2020. With schedules from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, they will work from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Thus, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, the traffic between the aforementioned restaurant (McDonald’s) and the bridge over Virilla River will be reduced to one lane with direction Santo Domingo-Tibás. Vehicles coming from San José will have to deviate through Barrio San Martín, which is the first street on the right after passing the bridge, coming from Tibás,”

said the ministry.

The traffic through the Barrio San Martín will be exclusive for light vehicles and buses, which can also travel through Barrio Socorro and San Miguel de Santo Domingo.

According to the National Road Council (Conavi), ¢800 million are being invested in this project through the Road and Bridge Conservation contracts.
