Kivú is enjoying its new home and the President is celebrating it

Rescate Animal Zoo Ave- Facebook

President Luis Guillermo Solís shared a video showing Kivú the lion exploring its new home located at Zoo Ave.

A week has passed since it was transferred to the center, after authorities of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) determined that the 18-year-old animal needed better living conditions.

Kivú is the banner of the fight for all species to enjoy a dignified life. All animals must be respected and treated well,”

said the president on Facebook.

The relocation of Kivú took place, after the MINAE, along with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), requested FUNDAZOO a new enclosure for Kivú at Simón Bolivar Zoo on September 7th.

However, the order was not enforced and the authorities decided to move the lion to Zoo Ave in Alajuela.
