Kivú is great at its new home!

Lion Kivú has been living for almost a month at its new home, located at Zoo Ave shelter. National authorities are satisfied after the “surprise” transfer conducted by the government in 2016.

According to Shirley Ramírez, wildlife adviser at the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), Kivú has adapted positively.

It is quite adapted; it is eating well and marking its territory. We have also seen periods of rest, as well as periods of activity, especially at night and dawn,

declared the specialist.

Kivú has also been given a varied diet since its previous diet was based on chicken and horse, but now it has had access to rabbit, duck, among others.

A new scale will be placed next week to evaluate the animal’s weight every day. In addition, a full technical report from all institutions that participated in Kivú’s transfer will be submitted.
