Legislator denounces abandonment of asphalt plant that cost ¢ 800 million

Mileidy Alvarado, from the National Restoration Party (PRN), denounced that the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) bought an ¢800 million plant to produce asphalt and it has been abandoned since 2015.

In the plenary, the congresswoman indicated that she will meet with Minister Rodolfo Méndez and the mayors of the province of Guanacaste in order to put machinery to work, which could reduce road interventions in this province.

The machine is located in the Tajo Chopo, between the cantons of Cañas and Tilarán. Alvarado indicated that, according to information provided by the MOPT, the production capacity of the machine is 90 tons of asphalt per hour.

The congresswoman called on the Government to fulfill its promise to urgently intervene in projects linked to the development of coastal zones.

I trust that the President will not forget his words, because the list of pending tasks in Guanacaste, Puntarenas, and Limón is long,”

added the legislator.
