Legislator presented a project aiming to close the CTP

Marcela Guerrero from Acción Ciudadana Party (PAC) formally presented the bill that proposes the closure of the Public Transport Council (CTP) and returns the rectory of the sector to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT).

The initiative was signed by Guerrero and legislators Ronny Monge and Silvia Sánchez from Liberación Nacional Party (PLN), Johnny Leiva from Unión Social Crsitiana Party (PUSC) as well as José Ramírez and Patricia Mora from Frente Amplio.

According to Guerrero, the public transport system has deteriorated in the last 20 years and the CTP has not fulfilled the objectives of its creation.

The project, called the Framework Law on Safe and Sustainable Mobility of People, also seeks to implement sectorization methods to organize the buses’ routes.

The project includes the use of massive buses of high capacity, GPS in the units, electronic collection and new terminals.
