A legislator wants the dismissal or resignation of ambassador to Brazil Jairo Gabel Bermúdez

Legislator Rolando Gonzalez from Partido de Liberación Nacional (PLN) asked for the dismissal or resignation of Costa Rican ambassador to Brazil, Jairo Gabel Bermúdez.

The request was made after he released some official documents from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that revealed that the diplomat got very low scores on 2 exams made by the Foreign Ministry in 2015.

In the first half of this year, the ambassador reached a score of 10.8 on a scale from zero to 100 and in the second half, the score was was zero, because he did not provide his management report.

The legislator explained that, in addition to the request of the embassy reports, which the government denied, he also asked for the diplomat’s qualifications.

It’s an indication that there is a concealment of the information,

declared the legislator.

The management report is an assessment tool for the embassies and the score is awarded by the Directorate of Foreign Policy, the Directorate of International and the Cooperation Area.

The Constitutional Court is examining an appeal presented by the Legislator after the Chancellor’s refusal to deliver 12 out of the 19 reports that were declared secret by the Executive.

The requested reports supposedly contain information regarding the government delegation, headed by President Luis Guillermo Solís, and its decision of abandoning the last General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) when Brazilian President Michael Temer was about to speak, on September 20th.
