Legislators approved Alcohol Law amendment

Members of the Parliament approved, in a second reading, an amendment to the Alcohol Law so that the cost of municipal licenses to sell alcoholic beverages is based on the business’ size and gross profits.

The initiative was proposed by William Alvarado, Partido Unidad Social Cristiana’s member, and the calculation also includes assets’ value.

The reform intends to standardize the charging system for municipal licenses nationwide in order to avoid complains regarding overcharging.
