Legislators call Central Bank officials on dollar rise

The authorities of the Central Bank of Costa Rica must explain to legislators the reasons behind the rise of the dollar price.

The Economic Committee of the Legislative Assembly approved a motion on Wednesday to bring the president of the Central Bank, Olivier Castro, and the members of the Board of Directors into question.

What we want is to explain to the Committee on Economic Affairs and to the country in general, what is happening with the exchange rate, because there is a lot of uncertainty,”

said legislator Gerardo Vargas Varela, from Frente Amplio, proponent of the motion.

According to the legislator,

there is no official explanation so far and there is great concern in the business sector, the working class and all those who have dollar debts.”

The audience will be held next Tuesday at 1:15 p.m.
