Legislators want to create an anti-discrimination entity

A group of lawmakers presented a bill to create a unit attached to the Ministry of Justice that will fight against all forms of discrimination.

The initiative, known as the “Law to Prevent and Punish All Forms of Discrimination, Racism and Intolerance,” was presented by lawmakers on the Special Commission on Human Rights.

The project would provide a legal framework to guarantee respect and protection between people, through the prevention, elimination and punishment of all forms of discrimination, racism and intolerance.

The new entity would be the National Council against Discrimination, Racism and Intolerance, whose purpose would be to guarantee the right to equality.

The initiative would also introduce criminal reforms against genocide, among others.
