Lima Group of Lima convinced of Maduro’s increasing isolation

The countries that make up the block known as Grupo Lima, including Costa Rica, support the recent decision of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) to ignore the representative of President Nicolás Maduro before this institution.

They also celebrate that the IDB and the IIC decided to recognize Juan Guaidó’s envoy, Ricardo Hausmann, as a representative before this multilateral lender.

The decision was made the previous Friday, when the IDB voted for Hausmann to be the new representative of Venezuela in this organization. The Bank joins the long list of foundations, institutions, organizations and nations that recognize Juan Guaidó as president of Venezuela.

This decision confirms the growing isolation of the illegitimate and dictatorial regime of Nicolás Maduro,”

resoprted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Costa Rica.

The document in which the Lima Group welcomes this IDB measure was signed by Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay and Peru.

The Lima Group renews its commitment to the return of democracy in Venezuela, through the holding of free and fair elections. In this regard, they will continue to support the recognition of the representatives of Interim President Guaidó in international organizations and multilateral mechanisms,”

said the statement.
