Marcial Fallas Clinic’s workers go on strike

Marcial Fallas Clinic in Desamparados will only take care of emergency cases on Monday, since the National Union of Employees of the CCSS (UNDECA) announced a strike to complain about the alleged breach of an agreement with the management of the CCSS.

According to Carlos Báez, Secretary of Conflicts of UNDECA, 15 days ago the institution signed an agreement with the commitment to make a number of changes in favor of the clinic’s staff. But unions are not happy with the results.

We are calling for an extension for six general practitioners, we are asking nurses, pharmacy technicians and managers, in order to provide good care to patients in this area. We signed a series of agreements in this regard and the CCSS has only served two,”

added Báez.

The union also protests against insecurity outside the clinic and ask policyholders to be patient.

What we are asking is for the benefit of policyholders. The CCSS will have to figure out how to reprogram appointments. The clinic’s service is very slow, not because of the staff, but because of the lack of human resources, and we want to improve that,”

said Báez.

The strike will only take place on Monday, as the union expects the CCSS to solve the problem soon.
